What is our project E4Future?

This project represents a methodological change in Basic Vocational Training (in Spain) or other similar courses in partner countries. Students will have the option to experience, in a simulated way, the different options they can access when they finish the studies they are currently taking; They will experience first-hand the entire process of creating a company, they will face a staff selection process, and they will carry out research work to analyze the labor market in their country in order to make them value the different jobs they might have access to according to the level of studies achieved. They will also reflect on the job insecurity of work posts generally occupied by people without education or with basic education. The final aim will be to motivate our students to continue studying when they finish this stage, and promote a reduction in truancy and school dropouts.

APPLIED METHODOLOGY

The new methodology consists of the students themselves, in groups, being their group mates’ own learning tutors and, at the same time, being tutored by them. A positive interdependence is produced because the group will reach their aims if the others reach their own, too. Learning will be meaningful, being the students the protagonists of their own teaching-learning process.

The steps to follow according to this methodology would be:

1º.Creation of working groups (root or origin groups).

2º. Divide the contents to learn in subtopics and assign a different one to each of the students in the origin groups.

3º. A new working group is created by all the members having the same subtopic (this is called “group of experts”).

5º. Each group of experts elaborates a simple report with relevant information about the chosen subtopic.

6º. Once they have finished such report, they come back to their root group and each member explains their subtopic to the other members of the root group. This way, all components of the root/origin group receive information about all subtopics through their own group mates.

7º. Root groups meet and carry out the activities. For example, each root group thinks about a business idea, a slogan, etc.

8º. Every activity product (business idea, slogan, logo…) is voted and the best is chosen to be implemented in the created company.

9º. In order to motivate the students, all participants will carry out a  co-evaluation using “Corubrics”.
